【摘要】:Theapparentdensityisanimportantmeasureofamaterialcharacteristicofthepowderthatisusefultothepowderproducersandpowderusersindeterminingqualityandlottolotconsistency.Thistestmethodisapplicabletofree-flowingandnon-free-flowingmetalpowders,lubricatedpowdermixturesandmetalcompounds.5.3Theapparentdensityofalubricatedmetalpowdermixturemaybedifferentwhenaquantitysettlesafterfallingintothediecavityduringautomaticcompactingascomparedwiththevalueobtainedfromameasurementtakeninthelaboratoryundercontrolledtestconditions.5.4Thistestmethodsimulatestheactionofthefeedshoeonapowdercompactingpressandgivesanapparentdensityvaluethatcloselyapproximatestheapparentdensityofthepowderinthediecavityaftertheproductionfillingoperation.5.5Knowledgeofthisapparentdensityvalueforthefinallubricatedproductionpowdermixtureisveryhelpfultothepowdermetallurgy(PM)partsfabricatortosetthecompressionratiosforfixedfilldiecavitytooling.5.6Thevaluesofapparentdensityobtainedonmetalpowderswiththistestmethodareapproximately0.2g/cm3higherthanthoseobtainedusingtheHallFunnel,TestMethodB212,theCarneyFunnel,TestMethodB417;ortheScottVolumeter,TestMethodB329.5.7ThistestmethodmaybepartofapurchaseagreementbetweenthepowdersupplierandPMpartsproducer,oritmaybeaninternalqualitycontroltestforeitherparty.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaquantitativelaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingtheapparentdensityofbothfree-flowingandnon-free-flowingmetalpowders,lubricatedmetalpowdermixtures,andpowdercompounds.1.2Withtheexceptionofthevaluesformass,volume,anddensity,forwhichtheuseofthegramandthecubiccentimetreunitsisthelong-standingindustrypractice,thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
