【摘要】:Thisguideappliestothedesign,location,installation,maintenance,anduseofdevicesandsystemsthatventthecombustiongasesandpressuresresultingfromadeflagrationwithinanenclosuresothatstructuralandmechanicaldamageisminimized.Adeflagrationcanresultfromtheignitionofaflammablegas,mist,orcombustibledust.ThisguideshouldbeusedasacompaniondocumenttoNFPA69,StandardonExplosionPreventionSystems,whichcoversexplosionpreventionmeasuresandcanbeusedinplaceof,orinconjunctionwith,NFPA68.Thechoiceofthemosteffectiveandreliablemeansforexplosioncontrolshouldbebasedonanevaluationthatincludesthespecificconditionsofthehazardandtheobjectivesofprotection.Ventingofdeflagrationsonlyminimizesthedamagethatresultsfromcombustion.Thisguidedoesnotapplytodetonations,bulkautoignitionofgases,orunconfineddeflagrations,suchasopen-airorvaporcloudexplosions.Thisguidedoesnotapplytodevicesthataredesignedtoprotectstoragevesselsagainstexcessinternalpressureduetoexternalfireexposureortoexposuretootherheatsources.Thisguidedoesnotapplytoemergencyventsforrunawayexothermicreactionsorself-decompositionreactions.Thisguidedoesnotapplytopressurereliefdevicesonequipmentsuchasoil-insulatedtransformers.Italsodoesnotapplytopressurereliefvalvesontanks,pressurevessels,ordomestic(residential)appliances.
