【摘要】:Twotypesofalkalireactivityofaggregateshavebeendescribedintheliterature:thealkali-silicareactioninvolvingcertainsiliceousrocks,minerals,andartificialglasses(1),andthealkali-carbonatereactioninvolvingdolomiteincertaincalciticdolomitesanddolomiticlimestones(2).Thistestmethodisnotrecommendedasameanstodetectcombinationssusceptibletoexpansionduetoalkali-silicareactionsinceitwasnotevaluatedforthisuseintheworkreportedbyBuck(2).Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletoaggregatesthatdonotcontainorconsistofcarbonaterock(seeDescriptiveNomenclatureC294).Thistestmethodisintendedforevaluatingthebehaviorofspecificcombinationsofconcrete-makingmaterialstobeusedinthework.However,provisionsaremadefortheuseofsubstitutematerialswhenrequired.Thistestmethodassessesthepotentialforexpansionofconcretecausedbyalkali-carbonaterockreactionfromtestsperformedunderprescribedlaboratorycuringconditionsthatwillprobablydifferfromfieldconditions.Thus,actualfieldperformancewillnotbeduplicatedduetodifferencesinwettinganddrying,temperature,otherfactors,orcombinationsofthese(seeAppendixX1).Useofthistestmethodisofparticularvaluewhensamplesofaggregatefromasourcehavebeendeterminedtocontainconstituentsthatareregardedascapableofparticipationinapotentiallydeleteriousalkali-carbonaterockreactioneitherbypetrographicexamination,GuideC295,bytherockcylindertest,TestMethodC586,byservicerecord;orbyacombinationofthese.Resultsoftestsconductedasdescribedhereinshouldformapartofthebasisforadecisionastowhetherprecautionsbetakenagainstexcessiveexpansionduetoalkali-carbonaterockreaction.Thisdecisionshouldbemadebeforeaparticularcement-aggregatecombinationisusedinconcreteconstruction(seeNote1).Note18212;Otherelementsthatmaybeincludedinthedecision-makingprocessforcategorizinganaggregateoracement-aggregatecombinationwithrespecttowhetherprecautionsareneeded,andexamplesofprecautionsthatmaybetaken,aredescribedinAppendixX1.Whilethebasicintentofthistestmethodistodevelopinformationonaparticularcement-aggregatecombination,itwillusuallybeveryusefultoconductcontroltestsinparallelusingtheaggregateofinterestwithothercementsorthecementofinterestwithotheraggregates.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedetermination,bymeasurementoflengthchangeofconcreteprisms,thesusceptibilityofcement-aggregatecombinationstoexpansivealkali-carbonatereactioninvolvinghydroxideionsassociatedwithalkalies(sodiumandpotassium)andcertaincalciticdolomitesanddolomiticlimestones.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.Whencombinedstandardsarecited,theselectionofmeasurementsystemisattheuser''sdiscretionsubjecttotherequirementsofthereferencedstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
